Who they are
- FOCUS AREA: Conservation & Outdoor Access
- LOCATION: Fairview, North Carolina
Conserving Carolina protects land and creates places for people to enjoy the outdoors. At the former Camp Woodson in Fairview, North Carolina, that work includes the Fairview Community Forest and the campus of the WORX Project, which offers outdoor learning and a free summer camp for local students.
Why we CHOSE TO FUND THEM
Protecting this land meant securing a lasting home for WORX while opening the surrounding forest to the community. Our gift helped Conserving Carolina close the remaining funding gap and complete the purchase.
Today, the first three miles of trails are open for walking and biking, with more planned. Students have a protected forest to explore, and their neighbors have a new place to get outside.
