OUR STRATEGY
Access Changes
What IS Possible
We believe lasting change begins with understanding the needs of our communities and listening to those working to meet them. Within each focus area, we partner with nonprofit leaders to identify barriers, strengthen services, and explore opportunities to expand access.
WHY THESE 4 AREAS?
— the essentials are connected —
These needs may appear separate, but communities experience them together.
A safe place to live affects health. Access to nutritious food affects stability and well-being. Healthcare can determine whether someone is able to work, learn, care for a family, or move forward. Outdoor spaces create opportunities for physical health, mental well-being, connection, and belonging. That is why we focus not only on individual services, but also on the systems and organizations that make those services accessible.
How we think about access
— more than availability —
Through conversations with our nonprofit partners, we explore questions that help us better understand community needs, identify barriers, and discover opportunities to make a greater difference.
OUR APPROACH
Immediate Need
— to lasting capacity —
Our investments may support direct services, but we also look for opportunities to strengthen what makes those services possible.
Infrastructure
Facilities, equipment, technology, transportation, and other resources that improve access or capacity.
Capacity
Investments that help strong nonprofits serve people more effecti
Collaboration
Partnerships that bring organizations together around shared challenges.
Systems Improvement
Solutions that make community resources easier to reach, navigate, or sustain.
Public Access
Investments that ensure important community spaces and resources can be enjoyed by more people.
SUPPORTING WHAT
— makes good work possible —
The strongest investment is not always the most visible one.
Some of the most meaningful investments come from listening to our partners and understanding what they need to succeed. Whether it’s new equipment, improved facilities, additional capacity, or stronger collaboration, we work alongside organizations to support the resources and opportunities that help their good work go further.
